"Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear My voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto My speech. Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come. Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins." (Isaiah 32:9-11)
The times are dark - spiritually speaking. The land of Judah has seen a great corruption of manners among the people. So much provocation has been given to the Holy God. Resultantly, His wrath and judgment is about to fall. In little more than a year, Judah is about to be invaded and destroyed by Assyria.
You ask - where are the intercessors? Where are the women who will sigh and cry for the abominations done in the land?
The Prophet Isaiah answers that question with several descriptive titles - "Ye women that are at ease"..."ye careless daughters"..."ye careless women"...and "ye careless ones." (Please take note how many times in three verses he repeats the words - "careless" and "at ease.") These are the supposed intercessors of the nation of Judah!
What a pitiful sight we have here! Instead of praying and standing in the gap for their nation, these women are - living a life of self-indulgence...living in pleasure...wanton...trusting in wealth and riches... confident that things will continue as they are...surrounded by comforts...on beds of down... dwelling in confidence and security...careless and at ease because they have enough money and mirth...and having no thought or notion of the destruction coming upon them.
Judgment is about to fall on Judah via the Assyrians. Believe it or not! The intercessors are completely preoccupied with the world and, consequently, steeped in spiritual insensitivity.
God, through The Prophet Isaiah, calls them to - "Rise up...hear My voice...give ear unto My speech...tremble...be troubled... strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins."
Do they hear the call? No, they are too preocuupied with the wealth and pleasures of this world.
We wonder - is the same call going forth today to the women of your nation? Are enemy troops about to invade and yet the women are at ease - living a life of self-indulgence?
Who among the women hears the call to - "Rise up" - and repent before a Holy God? Who discerns the times and seasons and is calling others to humble themselves and "tremble" because of the nation's sins?
Are you one of those women? Or would it be said of you that you are counted among the "careless ones" that are "at ease"?
