God's Antidote For Sexually
Transmitted Diseases

On January 10, 2003, CBN News reported the following statistics -
-
46% of girls having sex for
the very first time will contract STDs - Sexually Transmitted Diseases
-
99.97% of all cervical cancer
is caused by HPV - Human Papilloma Virus - a leading STD
-
15 million Americans contract
STDs every year
-
Out of that group, 25% are
under the age of 18
-
66.6% are under the age of 25
Just this past week, the local
News reported that many of the Public Schools across America are adopting
abstinence as a part of their sex education class. In fact, President Bush
announced that he would fund with federal dollars any program that taught
abstinence.
A Nationally Syndicated Pediatrician who authored the book - Epidemic -
Teen Sex Killing Our Kids -said that using condoms to prevent STD's was
like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. This same doctor used to
be a leading feminist who gave out more shots of birth control than she
could ever give account. She came to the stark realization that her belief
system was not working when, after ten years, her patients were returning
to her with STDs. She definitely changed her way of thinking when her 14
year old patients were coming to her, after having contracted STDs.
Oh! That the world would have listened to God from the very start!
In His Holy Scriptures, in Romans 6:23, He clearly tells us - "For the
wages of sin is death..."
Fornication - having sex with someone outside the marriage covenant - is a
sin in His sight. As the reports have shown, it causes death(but worst of
all, it sends a person to eternal torment in Hell.- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11;
Hebrews 13:4; Revelation 21:8) So many young women are contracting
cervical cancer at a very early age and dying young as a result.
The only way to stop this death plague from killing the upcoming
generation is for all sex outside of marriage to stop. Abstinence must be
strongly stressed and enforced as the only possible solution to this
problem.
The Word of the Lord for this generation, facing this epidemic due to
STDs, can be found in 2 Timothy 2:22 which says- "Flee...youthful
lusts..."
These include all the irregular, corrupt, and sensual passions to which
youth are subject.
2 Timothy 2:22 - An
exceptional remedy or antidote for "youthful lusts," which lead to STDs,
is found in the remainder of the same verse -
"...but follow righteousness,
faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure
heart."
To "follow righteousness" is
simply to flee from sin. It is to practice that which is good and
virtuous. Of course, we know that no one can easily do this except by the
grace of God which comes to those who are Born Again or in right
relationship with God as a result of repentance or the turning away from
all sin in their lives and faith in the Lord Jesus to save them and keep
them from all sin.
Matthew Henry, in his Commentary on this particular verse, made this
statement - "Holy love will cure impure lust." How true this is! What is
necessary is for the upcoming generation to be filled with "holy love" as
a result of being in right standing with the Lord.
"Faith," which is simply fidelity or loyalty, is essential in relation to
God and man. There would be no "youthful lusts" or fornication if men and
women were loyal and faithful to Jesus and one another - if young men and
women waited until marriage to have sex with their God-given partner.
Romans 13:10 - The Scriptures tell us that "Charity" or True Love brings
no harm to another person -
"Love worketh no ill to his
neighbor..."
It steals nothing but rather
adds.
Fornication is definitely
Sin.
Unlike "charity," it robs from another person the beautiful gift of
virginity and innocence.
As we have seen, it also
brings death to both the the sexual partner as well as to self.
"Peace" - staying in harmony and concord with those who "call on the Lord
out of a pure heart,"
Ephesians 5:11 - while avoiding any contact with the
"unfruitful works of
darkness," will surely keep one from falling prey to "youthful lusts."
What is the problem that we
are facing that is in epidemic form today?
"Youthful lusts," which result
in Sexually Transmitted Diseases - STDs.
What is God's Antidote for
STDs?
His Word commands all to "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow
righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out
of a pure heart."
Now that we have the world's attention on this matter, will we "cease the
day"?
Will the Preachers take the opportunity that is theirs to "blast" the sin
of fornication to kingdom come?
Will Christians everywhere lift up their voices in the market place,
warning every man of this deadly sin that is killing our youth?
God awaits in the shadows to see what we will do.
