The God Of Power & Mercy
What kind of circumstances
are you facing today?
Are they Insurmountable? Overwhelming? Impossible? Beyond your
capabilities? Do you feel as though God is not very interested in your
particular situation?
Regardless of how you feel, take your burden to the Lord and leave it
there. He is more than able to handle it.
He loves you so very much and wants to help you. Be assured of that.
Psalm 62:11-12 - "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that
power belongeth unto God. Also unto Thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy..."
Power indeed belongs to God!
In light of what you are facing today in your walk with the Lord, what
does that one statement do for you?
That word "power" means strength, might, boldness, and firmness.
Therefore, we can say that God is strong; He is Almighty; He is infinite
in power; He can do every thing, and with Him nothing is impossible.
-
Psalm 62:11 - "God hath
spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God."
-
Job 42:5,2 - In the final
chapter of his Book, it is recorded that Job said - "I have heard of Thee
by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee. I know that Thou
canst do every thing..."
-
Job 9:4 - He also said - "He
is wise in heart, and mighty in strength..."
-
Job 9:19 - and "If I speak of
strength, lo, He is strong..."
-
In Job 37:23, Elihu stated -
"Touching the Almighty...He is excellent in power..."
-
In 1 Chronicles 29:12, David
spoke of the Lord - "Both riches and honor come of Thee, and Thou reignest
over all; and in Thine hand is power and might..."
-
In Psalm 66:7, he said - "He
ruleth by His power for ever..."
-
In Psalm 68:34, he said -
"Ascribe ye strength unto God..."
-
Psalm 68:35 - and "...the God
of Israel is He that giveth strength and power unto His people. Blessed be
God."
-
Ethan the Ezrahite said in
Psalm 89:13 - "Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is Thy hand, and high is Thy
right hand."
-
The Prophet Isaiah told us in
Isaiah 26:4 - "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is
everlasting strength."
-
Daniel 2:20 - The Prophet
Daniel said - "...for wisdom and might are His"
-
Nahum 1:3 - and Nahum the
Prophet said - "The LORD is...great in power..."
-
In Matthew 19:26, the Lord
Jesus said - "...With men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible."
-
In Matthew 28:18, He once
again said of Himself - "...All power is given unto Me in heaven and in
earth."
-
Psalm 62:11 - "God hath
spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God."
What a Groundwork for our
Faith! God's readily accessible Power gives us good reason why we should
trust in Him and live in constant dependence upon Him.
-
In Psalm 59:9, David said -
"Because of His strength will I wait upon Thee..."
-
Ephesians 3:20 - He is able!
He is more than able! He is able "...to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think..."
-
Hebrews 7:25 - "...He is able
also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He
ever liveth to make intercession for them."
-
Psalm 62:11 - "God hath
spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God."
His attribute of being
All-Powerful could at times produce apprehension and alarm in man's heart
as He approaches such an Awesome Being. He also needs the assurance that
this God is loving and kind and easily
approachable.
Therefore the Holy Spirit had David go on to say of the Lord in verse 12 -
"Also unto Thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy..."
This word "Mercy" includes God's Goodness, Kindness, Faithfulness, Favor,
Good Deeds, and Pity. His Mercy coupled with His Power gives further
reason why we should trust the Lord at all times.
We see other instances in the Scriptures where God's Power is mentioned
along with His Mercy -
-
Psalm 59:16 - "But I will
sing of Thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning: for
Thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble."
-
Psalm 63:1-3 - "O God, Thou
art my God...my flesh longeth for Thee...To see Thy power and Thy
glory...Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life..."
-
Psalm 62:12 - "Also unto
Thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy..."
-
Exodus 34:6 - God is
"merciful and gracious."
-
Exodus 34:7 - He keeps mercy
for thousands.
-
Psalm 103:8 - In fact, He is
"plenteous in mercy"
-
Micah 7:18 - and delights in
mercy.
What kind of circumstances
are you facing today? Are they Insurmountable? Overwhelming? Impossible?
Beyond your capabilities?
The Scriptures tell us that "Power belongeth unto God..."
Do you feel though that God may not be very interested in your particular
situation?
The Scriptures also tell us that God is Merciful.
He is Good. He is Kind. He is Faithful. He loves you far more than you can
imagine. He indeed can be trusted.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
He is more than able to handle it.
He wants to help you.
Be assured of that.
May God Bless His Word.
