A Prayer For Our Troops

Father God,

We come to You this day in the Mighty Name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
We come to You as Your Word declares of us in Deuteronomy 33:29 - as the "people saved by the LORD," the "shield" of our "help."

Through Your Awesome Word, You are the "sword" of our "excellency."
Your Word verifies the fact that You are in total control, and that nothing can hurt or harm us that You do not allow to come our way.

This day, we humbly bow before You on behalf of our precious soldiers who are fighting the enemy in our place and on our behalf. We remind You of Your Word that declares - "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends"(John 15:13). This day look upon the sacrifice that these men and women in the armed forces are paying in order that we may all freely live out our lives out of harm's way and in a safe environment.

You are a God Who understands and recognizes sacrifice for You paid the Ultimate Sacrifice when You gave up Your only Begotten Son to die in the place of sinful mankind so that we could be a free people - freed from the oppression of the most ruthless enemy of all - Satan himself.

At this time, our troops are paying a costly price while they face all kinds of adverse and life-threatening circumstances and conditions so that we may enjoy the sweet "fruits" of freedom and liberty.

As the "sword" of our "excellency"(Deuteronomy 33:29), we ask that You would cause our servicemen and women to excel in their fighting. Give all leaders wisdom, insight, understanding, and discernment so that they, in turn, will be able to outwit and outmaneuver their foes.

We acknowledge that You and You alone are the "Only Wise God"(Jude 25). There is no other. You are the Great "I AM THAT I AM"(Exodus 3:14).

We are reminded of Your Word to our Father Abraham that said - "...Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield..."(Genesis 15:1). Because we are the children of Abraham through faith in Christ Jesus(Galatians 3:7), we declare that You are our covering, our Protector, and our shield from all evil. You are a "very present help in trouble"(Psalm 46:1). You are a "shield" to us and around us. As a result, we need never be harassed by fear.

We ask this day that You would silence all fears that would dare to torment our precious men and women in the armed forces. We ask that You would also silence the fears of their families and friends on the homefront. Speak "Peace" to the storms that rage in their hearts and souls.

In Psalm 28:7, we read that You are our "strength" and our "shield." Therefore, we ask that You would uphold and carry our soldiers through the various services and sufferings. Protect them from the malicious assignments of their enemies.

In Psalm 33:20, we read that You are our "help" and our "shield." In difficult situations, help them through each one. In dangers, defend them from their enemies by throwing a supernatural "shield" between them.

In Psalm 84:11, we read that You are our "sun and shield." Like the "sun," illuminate and enlighten their pathway as they fight in the darkness - whether it be the darkness of night, that which is caused by the sandstorms, or the spiritual "darkness" caused by the regional evil. Like the "sun," bring light to guide and direct their every step.

As a "shield," defend, guard, keep, and protect our men and women from the "fiery darts"(Ephesians 6:16) that fly thickly about them.

In Psalm 119:114, we read that You are our "hiding place" and "shield." As a "hiding place," we ask that You would preserve them from all danger. And, as a "shield," we ask that You would preserve them in danger.

In Psalm 3:3, we read the declaration of one of Your Greatest Warriors that ever lived - King David - "But Thou, O LORD, art a shield for me..."
Again, in Psalm 7:10, we read his statement of Faith - "My defence is of God..."
As the enemies surround our troops, and just as You did for David - secure, cover, and defend them on all sides.

We leave our righteous cause in fighting this war in Your hands, O Judge of the earth.
"Thy kingdom come" and "Thy Will be done in earth, as it is in heaven"(Matthew 6:10).
Proclaim Your justice throughout the earth, while at the same time, making these "perpetrators of evil" lasting monuments of Your Righteous Indignation and Justice directed against all oppression of the innocent.

Your Word admonishes us to "trust in the LORD"(Psalm 115).
As spiritual "Israel," we declare that You are our "help" and our "shield"(Psalm 115:9).
As the "house of Aaron" represented by all of Your servants and ministers, we declare that You are our "help" and our "shield"({Psalm 115:10).
As those who fear Your Name, we boldly assert that You are our "help" and our "shield"(Psalm 115:11).

Therefore, our souls wait upon You for Your mighty intervention(Psalm 33:20).
Your Word assures us that You are "mindful of us" and "will bless us"(Psalm 115:12). You will not abandon us over to our enemies.

Resultantly, we ask that You would subdue the people under us(Psalm 144:2). Reduce this warring group of rebels to a state of absolute subjection to our armies. Bring order where there is utter chaos and confusion.

In Deuteronomy 33:29, we read that our "enemies" will "be found liars" unto us. In other words, they will be made to submit to us against their wills.
We also read in this same verse, that we will "tread upon their high places." We will occupy and command strategic positions in their camp. Grant it, O Lord.

We also read in Psalm 59:11 where You are said to "scatter" the enemy "by Thy power" and "bring them down, O Lord our shield." Humble our adversaries and show them their weaknesses. Divide them so that they will never again be able to come together for evil purposes.

As a mighty "buckler"(Psalm 18:2), cover now the heads and hearts of our troops so that they will not be brought down, wounded, or slain by enemy fire.

We, as Your People, will be very careful to give You all of the Praise and the Glory for the Victory that shall be won for Your name's sake and in Your Name.

In Jesus' Powerful and Glorious Name we pray.
Amen & Amen.

May God Bless His Word.
Connie
