Victory Is Yours - The Serpent's Head Was Crushed!
Blessings cover the head of a righteous person - and it is all because the serpent's head was crushed at Calvary!
Genesis 3:15 states - "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
"...it shall bruise thy head..." - The seed of the woman - none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself - would destroy the serpent's - Satan's - power of death that came through sin. He would strip this enemy of his power, authority, and control over mankind. He would break and confound all his schemes...ruin his works...and annihilate his empire.
It is interesting to note that the serpent's poison is lodged in its head. When it strikes, it unleashes its poison from its front teeth into its victim.
Jesus crushed the serpent's head - striking it in the very place where its destructive power was stored - rendering him(Satan) totally powerless to kill or overwhelm.
This wonderful promise of victory in Genesis 3:15 - in turn - generated so many other promises for the believer in Christ Jesus - as relating to the "head."
Deuteronomy 28:13 promises - "And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them."
For all those who walk in obedience to the Lord God, He vows to "make" them the "head" - giving them dominion over others. They will rise and increase in wealth, power, honor, dignity, and privilege - always having the upper hand.
To the Hebrews, this promise to be the "head" meant that one would experience significant preeminence over others in economic resources. To the Orientals, it indicated that one would enjoy power, dignity, and acknowledgement.
Because Jesus crushed the "head" of the serpent at Calvary, you can now claim to be the "head" in every circumstance that comes your way.
Psalm 140:7 promises - "O God the LORD, the strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle."
While engaging in spiritual warfare with Satan - who readily attacks the mind with his fiery darts of doubt, unbelief, fear, evil suggestions and impulses, unforgiveness, bitterness, offenses, etc. - the believer is guaranteed the power of the Almighty as a defensive weapon over his mind.
Because Jesus crushed the serpent's "head" at Calvary, you are now protected and preserved against Satan's evil schemes and wiles - directed at your mind. You now have a helmet to wear - "the helmet of salvation" (Ephesians 6:17) - which serves as a mighty covering during any battle.
Proverbs 10:6 promises - "Blessings are upon the head of the just..."
Because Jesus crushed the "head" of the serpent at Calvary, every saint is now entitled to a variety and abundance of solid, substantial, and irreversible blessings - which descend from "the Father of lights"(James 1:17) in the way of grace and adorn and dignify their "heads."
These covenant blessings range from pardon for sin...peace of mind...the right to eternal life...health for the body, mind, and emotions...and include prosperity and material wealth.
Judges 8:28 states - "Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon."
Here we have a picture of what happens to our enemy - whenever we claim the victory of Calvary over him.
Like Satan oftentimes is to the children of God, the Midianites were so vexatious against the children of Israel. But God raised up Gideon in His power and might and sent him into battle with these ruthless foes. Resultantly, Midian was so completely humbled and brought under - to the point where they did not attempt to invade or oppress Israel or even cause them any more disturbance for forty long years.
Because Jesus crushed the "head" of the serpent by dying on the Cross and shedding His precious blood - you can enjoy victory over Satan in that area where he is presently attacking or harassing you. Jesus "bruised" this serpent's head so that he would not be able to "lift " his "head" against you in that area "no more."
Today, the Holy Spirit wants to give you a fresh vision of the serpent's crushed "head."
No longer be discouraged, depressed, or disheartened.
Just continue to stand on "the promises of God" that are "yea" and "Amen" in Christ Jesus(2 Corinthians 1:20).
Never forget - God has "made" you "...the head, and not the tail..." "...above only...and...not beneath..."..."...covered your head in the day of battle..."...and crowned your "head" with manifold "blessings."
What He did for the children of Israel against Midian, He can do for you against your enemies today.
When He gets through with them, they will not be able to "lift up their heads no more." You will enjoy undisturbed peace and tranquility.
The next time that Satan comes around - oppressing and harassing you - just say - "Genesis 3:15" - to him.
He'll know what you mean!
May God Bless His Word.
