What God Wants All Of The Churches To Know
"A man who is to be tried by One 'Who knows all about him,' should be a pure and holy man." - Barnes' Notes
"God's wisdom, simply manifold, and uniformly multiform, with incomprehensible comprehension, comprehends all things incomprehensible." - Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown Commentary
"God's microscope can lay bare the smallest microbe of doubt and sin." - Robertson's Word Pictures
"Show, O man, shame and fear towards thy God, for no veil, no twisting, bending, coloring, or disguise, can cover unbelief(disobedience)." - Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown Commentary
"God's eyes see all the facts in our inmost hearts. There are no mental reservations from God."
- Robertson's Word Pictures
In Revelation 2:23, the Lord Jesus said - "...and all the churches show know that I am He which searcheth the reins and hearts..."
There is something that God wants all of us as believers to know perfectly. That fact is this - The Lord Jesus - being the Omniscient God that He is - having the power of searching the hearts - knows what is in the hearts of people. This is His special prerogative. He knows the secret acts of wickedness that are concealed from human view. He sees through the pretences of religion and holiness and the fake zeal for Him and His glory that is coming from His so-called servants - when what they are really after is the gratification of their carnal lusts...the securing of worldly interests...and the amassing of riches and honors to themselves.
In Revelation 1, the Apostle John saw - "in the midst of the seven candlesticks One like unto the Son of man" "and His eyes were as a flame of fire"(Revelation 1:13-14). These "eyes" are so piercing that they can see right through the hearts of men and know their nature, dispositions, affections, principles, designs, and indifference.
In John 2:24-25, John wrote - "But Jesus did not commit Himself unto them, because He knew all men. And needed not that any should testify of man; for He knew what was in man." Here we have one mark of deity among so many - proving that the Lord Jesus was who He claimed to be - "The I Am that I Am"(Exodus 3:14) - God Almighty in the flesh. He simply did not put His trust or reliance in man because He knew all things. He knew who was sincere and who was hypocritical...in whom He could confide and to whom He could not trust Himself or His gifts. Indeed, He was and is and always will be the - "discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart"(Hebrews 4:12).
The writer of Hebrews went so far as to say in Hebrews 4:13 - "Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do." He Whose "eyes" are "as a flame of fire" sees every thought, feeling, and plan. Both soul and body of mankind is "naked," "opened," uncovered, and exposed before His "eyes." Nothing could possibly be concealed from Him. He marks every rising thought, every budding desire, and all the propensities and suggestions of the heart. No one can ever impose on Him by passing off hypocrisy for sincerity. He judges - not according to the appearance but
"according to the truth"(Romans 2:2) - according to what He sees with "His eyes" which burn as a flaming fire.
Proverbs 15:11 adds this remark describing this Supreme Being - "Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?" Imagine this! The grave - the place where the dead are placed, putrefy, and are eventually destroyed by worms - are ever before the "eyes" of the Lord. He watches the decaying process that is hidden from the eyes of the living. Also, under His eye are all the tormented souls of the damned who are continuously "weeping, wailing, and gnashing their teeth" in Hell.
This God Who has a window into the grave and into Hell fire itself can also see into "the hearts of the children of men." It is all "naked" and "opened" to Him.
Never can it be said that He has suffered from blurriness of vision or a distorted view. Nor can it be said that Satan or man used a veil, twisting, bending, coloring, or disguise to hide from Him a wicked disposition, attitude, thought, desire, device, or scheme. It is all "naked" and "opened unto the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do."
In closing, let's review some of the initial quotes in this message -
"God's microscope can lay bare the smallest microbe of doubt and sin."
"God's eyes see all the facts in our inmost hearts..."
"Show, O man, shame and fear towards thy God..."
How is it that - knowing what the Scriptures say about the Lord Jesus Christ being the Omniscient God to Whom we will all give an account some day - the Church is so lacking in "shame and fear" towards their God? We can understand the heathen being presumptuous and arrogant because they do not have the Holy Scriptures before their eyes on a daily basis as we do.
But what is the excuse for the believers to live as though God doesn't know or doesn't see?
Where, oh where, is the Fear of God? How is it that we as a Church in general cannot grasp these truths?
What is written in this message should scare the liver out of some - those who are "playing church," that is! These are the ones who live sanctimoniously on Church days, but act like the devil all of the other days. They dress, act, and talk like Christians while at church, but do and say as the world does when they are at home or on the job. They raise their hands during the worship service and shout their "Hallelujah's." They may even do a little Holy Ghost jig - showing how happy they can get in the presence of the Lord. But behind closed doors, their conversation is so filthy, their thoughts are bitter and hateful toward others, and their minds are filled with all of Hollywood's porno movie scenes.
The Lord Jesus definitively stated - "...and all the churches show know that I am He which searcheth the reins and hearts..."
If they do not know it through the reading of the Word, they will come to know it through the Judgments of God. One way or another - they will know it! The Lord Jesus said so!
"A man who is to be tried by One 'Who knows all about him,' should be a pure and holy man."
Are you a pure and holy man or woman?
May God Bless His Word.
