This Is What Happens When You Sin
There are serious consequences to sin. This message is intended to cause every reader to see these consequences - as outlined in the Word of God - and then to avoid sin at all costs.
"The humiliating consciousness that the Lord has left them soon makes men cowards."
- Charles Spurgeon
There are seven serious consequences that are implied throughout the Scriptures. They are as follows:
1. God Will Turn His Back On You
Leviticus 26:17 says - "And I will set My face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies..."
Sin will cause God to turn His back on you - to turn against you...exert His power against you...stir up His wrath and indignation against you... and cut you off. Resultantly, you will be destroyed by your attackers...fall down before your enemies...and go down in defeat.
2. You Will Have No Power To Stand Before Your Enemies
Leviticus 26:37 says - "...and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies."
Sin causes you to have no heart to resist your enemies - no strength or spirit to oppose them and defend yourself. It causes you to be obliged to surrender all that you have - your cities...own selves...families...and goods - into their hands.
3. You Will Fear Your Enemies
Leviticus 26:17b says - "...they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you."
Sin will cause you to be filled with dread and terror of your enemies.
4. You Will Turn & Run From Your Enemies
Joshua 7:8 says - "O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!"
Sin causes you to run from your enemies and retreat.
5. You Will Be Smitten By Your Enemies
Deuteronomy 28:25 says - "The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them..."
2 Chronicles 6:24 says - "And if Thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against Thee..."
Sin will cause you to be smitten down before your enemies - overcome...defeated...stricken...and beaten.
6. You Will Serve Your Enemies
Deuteronomy 28:48 says - "Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things..."
Because you choose to sin in not serving the Living God, you will become slaves to men.
7. Your Enemies Will Take Everything That You Own
Psalm 44:10 says - "Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves."
Sin causes your enemies to take for themselves what is yours.
Is it worth it to sin and be at odds with God and then suffer all of these terrible consequences?
You answer for yourself.
May God Bless His Word.
