6 Biblical Pictures
Depicting Your Prosperity
When
the Prophet Balaam looked upon Israel in
Numbers 24, he saw six pictures of
prosperity. Since you are a part of the
spiritual Israel, you can claim these same blessings
for you and your family. God wants you to prosper -
there is no doubt about it! Believe it and receive
it! Allow these images to expand your vision of all
that He has for you.
Numbers 24:5-7 says -
"How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy
tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they
spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the
trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and
as cedar trees beside the waters. He
shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his
seed shall be in many waters..."
1. Can
You See "Largeness" For Your Life?
Numbers 24:6 says -
"As the valleys are they
spread forth..."
Picture a valley that stretches or spreads out far
and wide. Or picture watercourses, brooks, or
torrents which pour down in parallel courses from
the upper slopes. This is what Balaam saw when he
looked upon the armies of Israel encamped in the
plains and villages of Moab. And this is what God
sees when He looks upon you and your family. He sees
"largeness." He sees the
place of your tents being enlarged. He sees the
curtains of your habitation stretching forth -
depicting a sign of greater influence, power, favor,
honor, and reputation among the heathen. Just as a
stream starts at one head but spreads into the great
broad waters, even so your life or ministry which
has started off "small" is
headed for "largeness." If
you are seeing great growth and expansion, you are
seeing as God sees for your life!
2. Can
You See Spiritual Richness, Well-Being, and Greater
Fruitfulness In Your Walk?
Numbers 24:6 says -
"...as gardens by the river's
side..."
Picture for a minute the famous artificial gardens -
filled with flowers, plants, and trees - found along
the banks of the Euphrates River. This is how God
sees you. You are His well-watered garden - pleasant
and beautiful - and secured by the fence of His
promises. You are a plant taken out of the world and
transplanted by Him into the richest soil - Christ
Jesus your Lord. You are nurtured and watered daily
by the rivers of His Divine Love and Grace. Though
the "heat" of adversities
and dangers be ever so great, you are preserved by
His blessing and power.
3. Can
You See God Using You Like Never Before?
Numbers 24:6 says -
"...as the trees of lign aloes
which the LORD hath planted..."
The "lign aloe"
or wood aloe tree is an Arabian and Indian tree
which has a sweet smell and yields shade and shelter
to both man and beast. It grows in the East Indies
and reaches eight to ten feet in height. Its stem
can expand to the thickness of a man's thigh. At its
top, it grows a tuft of thick leaves which are
jagged and indented. They are broad at the bottom
but grow narrower at the point and reach four feet
in length. This tree has the most beautiful
appearance with blossoms that are red intermingled
with yellow and yields a red and white fruit which
is the size of a pea. Its conical form suggests an
apt resemblance to a tent. Its wood is highly
valued because of its exquisite fragrance and is
widely used in the preparation of incense. It is a
mere production of nature - not planted by the art
or industry of man - and kept strictly by Divine
Providence.
God sees you as His
"lign aloe"
tree. You were not planted by man's ingenuity but
strictly by His hand. Hence, you are kept by His
Providence. You are reaching to higher heights each
day and spreading further and further - offering
solace and comfort to more and more people. Your
words offer "shade and shelter"
to all those whom God brings by Divine Appointment.
You display the greatest beauty because of your
holiness and exude the loveliest fragrance - the
"savor of Christ"
- to all those with whom you come in contact. Out of
your being comes the "incense"
of prayer and intercession for all the multitudes
who come under your "shade."
4. Can
You See Promotion & Greater Maturity Coming Your
Way?
Numbers 24:6 says -
"...and as cedar trees beside
the waters..."
The cedar trees are valued for their lofty growth
and durability of wood. They are a picture of
excellence - being superior to all the other trees.
They are the noblest of all trees - the image of
majestic strength and beauty. They grow on the most
elevated part of the mountains - taller than the
pines. Their wood is brown, very solid, and
incorruptible. Their branches grow in parallel rows
round the tree - giving it a conical appearance. At
the approach of winter, these same branches erect
themselves - clinging close to the body of the tree.
They do this to prevent any quantity of snow from
lodging on them and breaking them.
God sees you as His
"cedar tree."
Among all the
"trees" of the wood, you are
His delight for you are righteous and godly. He has
made you the perfect image of majesty, strength, and
excellence. Your growth comes through your
mountaintop experiences with Him. Out of your times
with Him come forth such durability and incorruption
in your spiritual walk. Your life is in the shape of
a "cone" - always
directing people to Jesus. When adversity hits, you
stretch yourself further and further upwards - not
allowing your trials to "break"
you but to "make" you the
tall tree that you are. Just as the
"cedar wood"
dispels corruption, even so does your life and
ministry dispel sin and wickedness and bring forth
the "fear of the
Lord" unto others.
5. Can
You See Greater Blessings & Plenty Coming Your Way?
Numbers 24:7 says -
"...He shall pour
the water out of his buckets..."
Water was and is the leading source of all blessing
and prosperity in the burning East. Here we have a
picture of a man carrying two pails that are
overflowing with water. It is a depiction of God's
exuberant and unfailing channels of blessing and
plenty for His people. He will wonderfully and
outwardly bless you with an abundance.
6. Can
You See Great Blessings Coming Upon Your Children?
Numbers 24:7 says -
"...and his seed
shall be in many waters..."
An allusion is made here to the sowing of rice in
flooded waters. Your seed will enjoy the overflow of
blessings coming their way. They will enjoy the
well-watered land of Canaan and resultantly bring
forth much fruit. They will know and experience
expansion and great dominion.
Isn't it amazing what is hidden for you and your
children in this small portion of Scripture? Indeed,
this is "hidden treasure"
for you and your family to claim as your own.
God wants you to
prosper and be blessed. Don't ever question this
truth again. Believe it and receive all that He has
for you.
It's
yours.
Take it by faith!
May God Bless His Word.
