Hey, Crawler! It's Time To Speed Up Your Pace

There are some Christians who are crawling when performing the will of God, while others are doing so with energy, promptness, and zeal. This latter group is obeying God's precepts with all readiness, fervency, and diligence. Their earnestness is kindled as they pray. They are pressing forward toward heaven with breakneck speed - sparing no effort, self-denial, or exertion. Their eyes are fixed on the heavenly prize. They are throwing off whatever weighs them down or dampens the vigor of their soul.

Where are you in your walk with the Lord? Are you one of the crawlers or the runners?
Hey, Crawler! It's time to speed up your pace!

Throughout the Bible, we find Scriptures which refer to "running" for God or "running the race" set before us. They are as follows -

Psalm 119:32 says - "I will run the way of Thy commandments..."
Song of Solomon 1:4 says - "...we will run after Thee..."
Isaiah 40:31 says - "...they shall run, and not be weary..."
1 Corinthians 9:24 says - "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain."
1 Corinthians 9:26 says - "I therefore so run, not as uncertainly..."
Hebrews 12:1 says - "...and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."

Do you feel the acceleration in the spirit realm? God is saying that it's time to pick things up a bit. It's time to move faster in doing His will. There's a lot of work to be done. This job is not for the weak, the slow, or the slothful. Jesus is saying to His children - "Keep up with Me at a steady pace. I am picking up the speed. You will have to move quickly in order to follow in My footsteps. You will not make it if you are complacent and passive."

It's time to run, Saints! Run, Run, Run for the Lord!

You may have been walking or even jogging up until this time, but the Master is calling for acceleration of your pace. It's time to run!

Jesus is calling us to devote all of our energies to keeping His commandments. He is calling us to run vigorously and cheerfully in the way of His precepts. He is calling us to follow Him readily and swiftly. He desires that we act with more rigor than ever before.

From each one of us, He is requiring swiftness of motion, eagerness of desire, readiness of affection, and vigor of pursuit. With hearts that are invigorated, a faith that is confirmed, and affections that are raised above this world, we must press forward in our race or course with our eyes fixed on the heavenly prize.

We are not like some who run "uncertainly" - with no clear aim in view. On the contrary, we are those who are looking straightforward to the goal. We know at what we are aiming - and that is conformity to the Lord Jesus Christ. We will cast away every encumbrance to reach that end.

Jesus is calling us to run with active, steadfast persistence and persevering endurance. We cannot allow ourselves to be hindered by any obstructions.

C'mon, Saints! Pick up the speed!

You may be thinking to yourself - "I need some help here. Just how do I start moving with a greater speed toward the things of God?"

The Scriptures promise you help from above. God's answer will come to you in "enlargement."

Psalm 119:32 says - "I will run the way of Thy commandments, when Thou shalt enlarge my heart."
Song of Solomon 1:4 says - "Draw me, we will run after Thee..."
Psalm 18:36 says - "Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip."
1 Kings 4:29 says - "And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore."
Job 36:16 says - "Even so would He have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place..."
Isaiah 60:5 says - "Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged..."
2 Corinthians 6:11 says - "O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged."

God promises to "enlarge" your heart. What does this mean? It means that He will expand or dilate your heart...make it free...deliver it from all hindrances to what is right...replenish it with wisdom and love to Him and His law...enlarge it with the knowledge of Him, His word, and His ways...and stimulate and animate it with noble and holy purposes.

Selfishness, pride, vanity, ambition, and covetousness contract or make narrow the heart; whereas charity, hope, love, and benevolence make it large and, in turn, cause the feet to run with the things of God.

God gave Solomon "largeness of heart." He gave him a vastness of understanding...a most comprehensive knowledge of all things...a great capacity for receiving as well as communicating this knowledge...quickness of thought...strength of memory...clearness of judgment...a keenness of understanding to arrive at the correct solution of difficult and complicated problems...as well as boldness and courage.

This is what God has for every believer. Having this "largeness of "heart" causes the saint to have room for freedom of motion. He is enabled to run without hindrance or obstruction. All obstacles are taken out of the way.

His heart is "enlarged" with a holy love and joy. In fact, it is swelled or filled with love and joy for God, His truths and ordinances, and His people. This "enlargement" produces an affection for others and an openness of mouth - an unreserved expression of one's inmost feelings.

Having this "enlargement" can be likened unto going from a strait place to a "broad place where there is no straitness." This is indeed a state of ease and freedom.

In Song of Solomon 1:4 is recorded the cry that every believer should be making before the Lord today - "Draw me, we will run after Thee..." By His grace and Spirit and with cords of love, Jesus gives His church the full assurance of His affection for her. She is brought nearer to Him for the purpose of enjoying more of Him. This "drawing" overpowers the world and the flesh that would draw her away from Him.

"Draw me, we will run after Thee..."

Do you feel Him "drawing" you to a faster pace in doing His will?

He wants to remove the hindrances and obstructions from your path that would slow you down.

Are you willing for Him to "enlarge your heart" - remove all of the idols and rivals from there - so that you could run...run...run "the way of His commandments"?

C'mon, Saints, get on fire for God! Pick up your speed in doing His will! Don't allow anything or anyone to stand in your way! Refuse to crawl any more! Settle for nothing but running after the things of God!

May God Bless His Word.
